About us

DEAC Basketball Academy is one of Hungary’s four state-supported youth development centers, representing the largest facility in the Eastern region. Currently, our system includes more than 75 players from the ages of 14 to 20, with their development benefiting from the guidance of an expanded team of professionals, contributing to their daily growth.

Our primary objective is to provide all the essential tools, conditions, and support to the players in order to reach their maximum potential. We have set no smaller task than to identify the most promising young basketball talents and assist them to reach their goals in the sport. We prioritize individual development over team successes; we will be satisfied when we will be able to consistently delegate young talents to the national youth teams and when an increasing number of graduates prove their abilities in the active rotations of our first-division team or in other professional squads.

Thanks to systematic work started in 2020, a great number of academy players could already make their first appearances on the biggest stage of domestic basketball, while our youth teams are constantly fighting for the national championship titles. Our greatest successes so far were achieved in the year 2023, when both our U-20 team and the university team comprised of our players celebrated Hungarian championship victories. Additionally, our U-23 team secured a commendable sixth place in the Hungarian second division.

By climbing the ranks within the academy, our basketball players can seamlessly integrate into the bloodstream of professional basketball. From there, there may arise opportunities for a promising international career. A notable example of this is Adam Somogyi, who not only played for the DEAC senior team but is now a player for Morabanc Andorra in the Spanish ACB League. Another example is Vincent Valerio-Bodon, who also wore the black and white colors. In the summer of 2023, he participated in a trial with the Los Angeles Lakers during the Summer League and has since been a member of to its affiliate team, the South Bay Lakers.

The professional advancement of our athletes is supported not only by knowledgeable experts but also by unparalleled infrastructure. At our sports facility on Oláh Gábor Street, we have everything a basketball player might need. The gymnasium is housed in the same building as a well-equipped fitness center and multiple rehabilitation rooms. Neyt to the premises, our affiliated restaurant, Viktória, awaits hungry players. Within walking distance, you’ll find additional facilities associated with our academy, including more gyms and the sportsdiagnostic, lifestyle, and therapy center.

We aspire for the young individuals emerging from our program to not only excel on the court but also to establish themselves off the court. Therefore, we maintain a close relationship with the University of Debrecen, one of the largest in the country. Collaborating with the higher education institution and its secondary education partners, we offer a dual career path model to our players. Upon completion, they have the opportunity to obtain a prestigious certificate in addition to their basketball achievements.
